Mark Geskey
Operations, Logistics Expert and Facilitator
Captain Mark Geskey, a native of Tampa, Florida has 23 years of service in the Active Army, Army Reserves, and National Guard, as well as over three years of Civil Service. He served on active duty as a Korean linguist and interrogator from 1986 until 1991 and continued as an enlisted Soldier in the USAR/NG while obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in International Studies from the University of South Florida. In July 1998, he graduated OCS and was commission as a Military Intelligence Officer in the FL Army National Guard. In 1999, he was accepted to the Department of the Army's Transportation Corps Intern Program, during which time he completed the Transportation Officer Basic Course as well as numerous transportation-related courses. He then served for two and half years as the Plans Officer, 837th Transportation Battalion, Port of Pusan, Korea. During his service in Korea, he continued to serve in the USAR as a Civil Affairs officer in the 8th Army, C/J-5 cell.
In July 2002, CPT Geskey voluntarily returned to Active duty and served as a Platoon Leader in 89th Trans Company (Medium Truck) / 6th Trans Battalion while deployed to Kuwait in Jan 03 and then Iraq as in support of OIF 1.
Upon redeploying to Ft Eustis in Jul 03, CPT Geskey spent the next three years as an Instructor for the Transportation Officer Basic Course before deploying as an embedded Logistics Advisor to the 2nd Motor Transport Regiment, 2nd Iraqi Army Division as part of the Military Transition Team (MiTT) program. He has been serving as the assistant S-3, 8th Trans Brigade since his return to Ft Eustis last October.
CPT Geskey is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and is current pursuing a Master's degree in National Security Studies through American Military University.
CPT Geskey's military schooling includes the Civil Affairs Officer Advance Course, the Military Intelligence Officer Basic and Advance Courses, the Transportation Officer Basic Course, Special Forces Assessment and Selection, Primary Leadership Development Course, and the Defense Language Institute Korean Basic Course.
CPT Geskey's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (OLC), the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army Reserve Achievement Medal (OLC), the National Defense Service Medal (Service Star), the Southwest Asia Service Medal (3 Service Stars), Iraqi Campaign Medal (3 Service Stars), the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (3), Reserve Overseas Service Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, and the Combat Action Badge.
CPT Geskey has been married to the former Melinda Buhler for 14 years; they have four children, Matthew (13), Julia (10), and Michael (7), and Isabel (1).
